Hermann Strobl
With his paintings, Hermann Strobl masterfully tells stories. In front of a department store’s glass facade, street musicians are immersed in their music, becoming a peaceful center for the pedestrians in the square. In the foreground, all motion has ceased, except for the musician, who is lost in his guitar playing, surrounded by people both sitting and standing. Even the mannequins in the window seem to focus on him. The magnetic power of the image is so strong that you almost hear the music and feel as though you’re part of the scene.
