“Each of us is art, marked by life.” – Casper
A small, black ceramic cat floats in front of a matt gold background – held by two heavily tattooed hands. The title “Fool’s Gold” describes the obvious: the shiny background, in the original oil painting by Kurt Stimmeder, from which this lithograph was modified, worked with 24 carat gold leaf, in connection with the decorative cat figure. At the same time, it also references to a metaphorical level. Pyrite, popularly known as fool’s gold, is said to help you get closer to yourself and thus strengthen self-knowledge and self-confidence. © Franziska Heiß MA
