A work of art breathes the soul of the artist. There is no such thing as “art” as a fact – it is interpreted through the specific perception and feelings of the viewer. A work of art contains the creative energy of the artist and expresses what the artist felt and saw with his “inner eye” at the moment of creation. The viewer perceives this individually, shaped by his or her own experience.

My interest in people and their faces as a mirror of the soul led me to paint portraits. Everything that is alive is a challenge for me to capture its essence, its “soul”, to “merge” with it and to conjure up what I see and feel on paper or canvas. I am equally fascinated by landscapes and buildings in the changing light.
